AMD Athlon X2 4000+ voltage readings
Hey guys wondered if you could help me to answer a question about the voltage readings i'm getting from both speedfan ( version 4.33) and a program called Sensors view Pro 3.1.
Both of theses applications have a monitor for the voltage of the Vcore's of my AMD athlon 64 x2 4000+ brisbane 2.1ghz (@ 2.4) While the first vcore seems accurate (set at stock voltage) at 1.25 volts, the second reads a whopping 1.89v and this greatly concerns me. I have had no issues with stability whatsoever, but I don't want to fry my cpu knowing that higher voltages can cause greatly reduced cpu life due to electron migration and increased cpu heat. I thought these readings might be innacurate because they are being viewed by applications and not a voltmeter, but they are consistent in both programs. Also I tried updating my mobo's bios but with no change in the readings. Lastly the software from gigabyte that came with my mobo only reads the first vcore.
So, is my cpu messed up or is this normal, or is it a known problem? Also do you think this could be caused by my power supply? My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-MA69VM-S2 (rev 1.0) My power supply is a 500w (unkown make) that is being used with a 20 to 24 pin adapter. Could you help me identify what the exact problem is either with the reading itself or my hardware? Thanks alot guys
