    VisionTek GeForce2 GTS 64MB - Benchmarks Part 2

Benchmarks: Ok guys. One last thing I wanted to run was the "Official Nvidia" Quake3 map. I'm still not sure why nobody else runs this map in their benchmarks. This map is gorgeous, and really puts the vice on these video cards. I'm talking balls to the wall here. Enough babble, on with the results.

    NV15 Demo Fastest & Normal

    NV15 Demo HQ & HQ 1024x768

Above with fastest and normal we see this demo bringing the CPU to it's knees. Ahh yeah, gotta love that. Anytime something is putting my hardwares nuts in the vice I am happy, however, I do not tend to leave 'em there long, heh. Now on the HQ and HQ @1024x768 we see the Video Cards coming to their knees. As expected, the VisionTek 64megger holding it's weight. Not by much, but still kickin'. I'm gonna skip 1280 and go with the HQ 1600x1200. Lets see.

Again. The 64meg is outweighing the 32megger in this battle, but not by a longshot. The Herc is putting up respectable numbers. Man I really love this demo. I would love to gind up a Voodoo5 5500 and a Geforce2 GTS Ultra with this demo.

Visual Quality: Here I am going to show you a few pics of various games with FSAA and without. Using this nifty little ditty.

If you are "Registry" challenged, this will be a Geforce owners newest best friend. Even if you are proficient in perusing about your registry, this tool is VERY handy. Especially when doing comparisons. Now, i'm pretty sure I was surfing Tweak3d.net, (man those guys know their stuff) when I found this.

Heavy Metal Fakk2 800x600 No FSAA

    Heavy Metal Fakk2 800x600 4x FSAA Enabled

Pull up both thumbnails and set them side-by-side. You will definitely see a difference. Below is an even better representation. In a word...Sweet.

No FSAA  800x6004x FSAA Enabled  800x600

Plain and simple. This is looking nice. Now at 800x600 this game is totally playable, and with FSAA enabled, looking like it might @1024x768 or possibly even higher without it. No, I will not be using FSAA during heated battles online during Q3. But playing HeavyMetal alone is very relaxing and a beautiful game to look at, and well worth a slight performance hit.
