    Sapphire X300SE - Testing

Now time to see what this card is capable of. I’m not expecting this to break any records, but I hope it will make the games payable. Here is what the test rig looks like:

    • DFI NF4 Ultra D
    • AMD Athlon 64 3000+
    • 2 x 512MB OCZ VX
    • OCZ PowerStream 520Watt
    • Samsung 120GB SATA HD
    • Sapphire X300 SE

The testing will be of a few different games and synthetic benchmarks. Each test will be run at stock speeds, as well as the overclocked speeds.

    3DMark 2001SE

This is the oldest of Futuremark’s gaming benchmarks. Most of the time, the rest of the system bottlenecks this test. Since the X300SE isn’t a powerful chip, it should be graphical bottleneck.

    3DMark03

This version does a good job simulating the average current game very well.

    Counter-Strike: Source

This will be the first real world game we will test. I ran the video card stress test and the results are what you see below.

    Far-Cry

This has to be my all-time favorite game. It has to put the most stress on a card with the water alone on most of the levels. I tested with the new support for 64-bit.

    Doom 3

The very last benchmark will be Doom 3. This requires a nice CPU as well as GPU. To test Doom 3, I ran Timedemo demo1.
