ProLink PixelView GeForce FX5900XT Golden Limited Review - Testing: Halo and NFSU
(Page 7 of 9 )
Halo (DirectX 9)
FRAPS was used to benchmark Halo. We sped through a beach level atop a warthog, where enemies and enemy fire filled the screen. The graphics settings used were a resolution of 1024x768x32, no AA no AF, all settings enabled, and particles and texture quality high.

Of the three cards, the FX 5900XT is the only one that can render Halo at 1024x768x32 at a smooth frame rate. While all cards dip below 30 FPS, the FX 5900XT maintains on average 40 FPS which provides noticeably smoother gameplay compared to the other cards.
Need For Speed Underground (DirectX 9)
We used FRAPS to benchmark one lap around the Olympic Square course. Settings used were a resolution of 1280x1024x32, 2x AA, 8x AF, default detail options.

In NFSU, the FX 5900XT and overclocked 9600 Pro perform the same. Both keep average frame rate around 40 FPS, and both reach highs of 50+ FPS while the FX 5700 Ultra is limited to around 30 FPS and below.
