ProLink PixelView GeForce FX5900XT Golden Limited Review - PixelView PFD II Technology
(Page 2 of 9 )
The feature that makes the PixelView FX 5900XT Golden Limited stand above all other FX 5900XTs is PixelView PDF II technology, a "Super Cooling System with Blue Icy Crystal Display." The Blue Icy Crystal Display can be viewed from three angles when attached to the video card or can be attached to a 5 1/4" panel and installed in a bay. The Super Cooling Fan System features real time temperature and fan speed monitoring. Because the card monitors its own temperature and fan speed, it features Noise Reduction Technology. At below 40°C the fan runs at 60% full speed, between 40°C and 55°C 80% full speed, and over 55°C full speed. This translates into 28/35/45 dB respectively.

The PixelView FX 5900XT

The PixelView FX 5900XT comes in a typical box that boasts its PDF II technology. You can see from outside the box the aluminum cover and display. Upon closer inspection:

The aluminum cover is attached to the card by screws in four corners. Holes run along the sides of the shroud, allowing air which is brought in from the fan to exit. Technically, this cover aids air flow and depending on your tastes, is nice visually. Removing the cover, we see that the PixelView FX 5900XT looks like an ordinary FX 5900.
