Gigabyte X800 Pro Review - Testing: UT2K3, Call of Duty

    Unreal Tournament 2003

Splinter Cell use the same graphics engine as Unreal Tournament, so we should see the X800 Pro leading the 6800 in UT2K3 like we did in Splinter Cell.

Both cards have an average framerate greater than 100 FPS across all three maps. While the naked eye wouldn't be able to tell any difference between the cards, the X800 Pro is indeed more powerful in UT2K3 than the 6800.

Not much changes when we bump anti-aliasing to 4x and anisotropic filtering to 8x. Both cards still stay above 100 average FPS. The nice thing about both cards in UT is that there is a very small performance hit when stepping up IQ.

    Call of Duty (OpenGL)

Call of Duty runs on the old Quake 3 engine. But don't let that fool you, because the game can still be graphically demanding with the right settings.

    Gigabyte X800 Pro Review

At the base test setting 1280x1024 2x8x, the 6800 is slightly faster than the X800 Pro. Bumping IQ to 4x16x however, the cards perform nearly the same. The X800 Pro runs 3 FPS faster but dips 8 FPS slower. Like the other games tested so far, both cards play CoD very well.
