FIC ATI Radeon 9800 Pro (R98P) Review

    (Benchmarks continued...)

    Aquamark Benchmark:

Aquamark is a benchmarking tool that is based on the 3D engine of the game "Aquanox".  It's a quick and dirty test that will allow us to show these two cards in yet another arena.

During the Aquamark benchs we didn't see the heavy advantage of the 9800 as we saw in UT03.  Both cards performed nicely, with no clear advantage to the 9800.  The FIC 9800 performed better generally, but not enough to call it a hands down victory.  In the Aquamark runs we notice that the R9700 and R9800 both handled the job easily at both "Performance" and "Balanced", only really showing a slowdown when we cranked up with quality settings.

    Comanche4 Benchmark:

Comanche4 is a benchmark that in the past has always shown heavy dependency on raw CPU speed. Even so, this is a nice real world gaming test that should give us a good platform to measure the 9800 on.

While the edge goes to the FIC Radeon 9800, it is a thin edge indeed until again, we crank up the quality and resolution.  Almost certainly here our CPU is the bottleneck as we get all but identical performance up to the same point.

Alright, on to the 3dMark suites and of course some overclocking action!
