    FIC A92 Radeon 9200 64MB - Box and Contents

    Box & Contents

The FIC Radeon 9200 comes in a sweet little box with some cool looking box art. The back of the box lists just about every feature of the card, and the side denotes which version the card is, 64MB or 128MB. Oh and you can't miss the "Powered By ATI" logo!

Opening the box we see the card besides its SHRINK WRAPPED manual, and beneath we have a composite video extension cord, s-video to composite converter, s-video extension cord, and DVI-VGA adapter. The driver CD/WinDVD software comes sandwiched in the manual.

I have to give props to FIC for including the above mentioned video accessories; trust me, they will most likely save you from spending $20-30 at Radioshack when the time comes and you want to use video-out.

    The Card

The card itself boasts a red PCB and gold heatsink. Being that the 9200 is not exactly the most powerful GPU, passive cooling should be adequate. It is approximately the same size as the BFG GF4 Ti4200 we will be comparing it to.

The heatsink is attached by some sort of epoxy or thermal glue, and is additionally secured by push pins.

Here is a shot of the ramchips. They are made by Mosel Vitelic, model V58C365164SBT4.

Now, if the ram is rated at 4ns, a quick calculation shows that the ram is actually capable of 250MHz as opposed to its stock 200MHz. (1000/4 = 250) In DDR terms, the ram is basically guaranteed to run at 500MHz, a full 100MHz faster than default. Overclocking this budget card however, is not as easy as you may think, which you will find out more about later.
