BFG 8800 GT OC - Testing continued

    F.E.A.R.

Lots can be said about this game. I have played through it twice and it still scares me every time I play it. From a computer perspective, this is a very intense game. It boasts great physics and the best lighting I have seen in a game. But it put a real crunch on my previous computer.

The nod goes to 8800 GT, but only by a small margin. Will you notice a difference when playing the game between these two? Nope, but at higher resolutions you may begin to see a difference.

    Medal of Honor: Airborne

This is the newest installment of the War World II game series. I didn't think Pacific Assault was worth it, but this one takes it home. As the name implies, you are in the airborne and frequently parachute in and take posts. This game is very graphic intensive and will test your computer.

The BFG 8800 GT OC showed a very nice gain over the 8600 GT SLI. The results are roughly in line with the results we've seen with the rest of the benchmarks to this point.

    Overclocking

This card does come overclocked out of the box, so there may be a little less room to go up, but you should see some kind of increase in both the RAM and GPU speeds. I wasn't able to get much more room out of my card in either the core or ram. The benchmarks came out to be very close to the stock overclocked results.

    Conclusion

I guess we can start with sweeping the benchmarks as the first home run for the 8800 GT. With great results across the board, it will make many games more playable at higher graphic levels and resolutions, compared to the 8600 GT. For the price you can't go wrong; it costs roughly $250.

BFG is a great brand, offers a great warranty and has had awesome customer service in the past. The card tested has a slightly higher core speed than the stock cards, which makes it a little better buy as far as which 8800 GT to get. There is still room left for overclocking, if the need arises. The power requirements are a lot lower then nVidia's higher performance cards and will save you from a PSU upgrade. I highly recommend this card for anyone that is into gaming; as far as bang for the buck, it's the best.
