    Albatron GF4 Ti4280 - Overclocking And Conclusion

    Overclocking

Now comes the good part - overclocking this thing to its limits.  The card came at stock speeds of 250/513.  I used the latest Rivatuner and saw initial default speeds of 513 for the memory.  I was able to overclock the Ti4280 to a max of 310/600 before getting artifacts.  To be honest, we were somewhat disappointed at this relatively low overclock, given the excellent memory and Albatron's reputation for manufacturing a great overclockers card.  I've seen other people reaching higher speeds, especially the memory.  Overall, the overclock may be good, close to Ti4600 speeds, but personally, I had hoped for a bit higher in both memory and core. Still respectable however. Some Tweakmonster ramsinks and a better GPU cooler could possibly make this card even faster.

    Concerns

There were no concerns with the card itself.  My main concern was the included driver CD.  I guess the included drivers were a bit too outdated, since my attempt to install the drivers did not recognize the GeForce 4 Ti4200 with AGP 8x support.  The driver simply did not install at all.  I tried twice and failed both times.  My third attempt was the Detonator 41.09 and it worked.  People who buy this card should be warned that they should have internet connection right away.  You'll need to download the newest drivers as soon as possible.

    Conclusion

What can be said about the Albatron Ti4280?  The card is fast no doubt, but the AGP 8X didn't give a great performance increase.  The card overclocks relatively decent but again, we were hoping for just a bit more.  The core hit a good limit, but I was disappointed in the memory.  I wanted to achieve higher speeds after seeing so many good overclocks with other cards.  I had my faith in Albatron.  Even though they didn't excel in the overclocking department, they certainly don't lose when it comes to the price.  The Albatron Ti4280PV can be had for about less than $180.  With the feature of VIVO at less than $190 is pretty damn good to me.
