SEARCH DEV HARDWARE is a website that specializes in music promotion from all sides of the industry. Used by over two million customers, the site has a variety of features that cater not only to artists and fans, but record labels, managers, and even venues as well. If you are an aspiring artist, are in a band, or have some sort of marketing need when it comes to music, a trip to can be worth your while. This review will give a breakdown of the site and some of the many features it has to offer.

As with most parts of, the section for Artists offers both free and premium features.  Let’s begin with the free features first.  You can create a profile page that allows you to upload and edit content in the form of biographical information, songs, upcoming shows, and more.  Fans can buy tickets to your shows via a site link, and they can also join a mailing list to get updated information.  Web Buzz reveals any press, and detailed statistics are included too.  A gig finder helps you book shows.  Other free highlights include Facebook and Twitter integration, widgets, banners, and the Reverb store for selling merchandise.

Premium features include a site builder, a digital press kit, increased song storage up to 100MB, email templates to share with fans, and the ability to promote yourself with a mobile app.  Digital distribution is also included for selling music on, iTunes, and other online sites.

Josh Cain of The Joshua Cain Band offered this testimonial: “I have already noticed a difference in show attendance.  ReverbNation is easy and invaluable!”

As an example, let’s take a look at the rock band Stairwell from Greenville, North Carolina.  Their fan page has a small bio, a playlist of 12 songs, a calendar with details on upcoming shows, a list of their fans, and comments.  There are links to purchase their songs from iTunes, a link to their Twitter profile, and blurbs from the press about the band.  Statistics show the number of fans, song and video plays, page visits, and widget hits.  This info helps the artists keep in touch with their progress and growing popularity.  Best of all, the profile is loaded with social media links to help fans spread the word across sites like Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace, as well as via email.  Interested parties can also book them through the site.  As for the band itself, if you are looking for some good southern rock with an Alternative vibe, give Stairwell a listen.

Labels and Managers also has plenty to offer to music labels and managers to help them maximize their success and appeal to up and coming artists.  Free features begin with the central artist management page.  Here is where you upload and manage content from all the artists on your roster.  Visitors can view photos, see any new releases, and get detailed information on each artist within your roster by following links to their profile pages.  By viewing the fan lists, you can get a better idea of the audience your artists are attracting to provide more targeted marketing.

Statistics offer various essential tracking elements on your roster.  You can see the demographic breakdown of your fans, view your top regions across the country, and also see stats on visits from individual fans.  ReverbNation’s stat tracking for labels and managers also breaks down where fans are coming from, such as social networking sites like Facebook, MySpace, MyBand, and the like.  Widgets and email templates are just two more free features that are available in this department.

Most of the premium features for labels and managers are similar to those for artists.  You can promote using your own mobile app, as well as enjoy digital distribution through and iTunes.  A more comprehensive email template solution is offered under the premium membership, as are enhanced widgets, professional-grade press kits, and a site builder.  Song storage can also be upgraded via premium to 100MB instead of the standard 8MB under a free membership.

Bieler Bros Records offered this testimonial regarding the power of’s features: “As a label, we’re always looking for the best options to promote our artists.  ReverbNation offers by far the best set of tools to really get a feel for how your online promotion is working.  Our bands love it, their fans love it and our label feels like we’re just scratching the surface as to what we can accomplish!”

Venues are an essential ingredient to the music industry, as they help artists become noticed.  ReverbNation’s free features for venues include a profile page for displaying maps, upcoming shows, artist details, and more.  Twitter integration and widgets are also included, and fans can help your venue’s popularity spread through social media.  Statistics display show attendance and detail the artists that bring in the most business.  You can also use your ReverbNation profile to blog about your venue.  Regarding premium features, venues can employ FanReach Pro for email templates and statistical tracking.

Glenn Boothe of the Local 506 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, described ReverbNation’s value: “ has a solid grasp on the tools that both bands and music venues need to be successful in today’s ever-changing music climate.”

Last, but certainly not least, are the fans.  ReverbNation is a great place to discover new talent that has yet to hit the big time.  With access to so many artists spread across various genres, fans of any type of music can find what they’re looking for.  Sharing newly discovered artists with friends is easy thanks to the ReverbNation Facebook app, and songs can also be sent over email or IM.  You can create playlists of your favorite songs or listen to ReverbRadio for a more varied sampling of music.

As you can see, is a solid one-stop shop for artists, managers, labels, venues, and fans.  The site encompasses so many aspects of the music business, making it a valuable marketing tool as well as an enjoyable avenue for entertainment.
