Sony 128MB USB Flash Drive with Fingerprint Access
(Page 1 of 6 )
Electronic data storage and transportation presents certain problems, which only increase with the amount of the data one needs to store and transport, particularly if the files need to travel with a road warrior who will work with them on several different systems. The problems get worse when the data must remain private. Sony has created a USB Flash drive with fingerprint access that goes some way toward addressing these issues.

The Sony USM128C, also known by the friendlier name of Micro Vault, is a product worth having. Why? Well, at 2.84 inches long when unsheathed, it’s certainly not the smallest USB flash storage device available; this title must surely go to the PQI I-Stick at just 1.22 inches long.
With a capacity of a mere 128 MB, it’s also definitely not the device with the greatest storage space; many manufacturers, including Sony, are now offering USB flash drives with up to 4 GB of storage.
With flash memory sticks now retailing for as low as $23, the USM128C simply cannot hope to be the most affordable storage medium with its current price tag of $79.99
So if it’s not the cheapest, the smallest, or the most capacious, what’s so special about it? The inclusion of a biometric finger-print recognition sensor is what makes this product stand out from its competition. It is not the only flash memory stick that features fingerprint authentication technology; there are several brands of this type of flash drive available. It may not be the cheapest USB flash drive around, but it is the cheapest biometric drive around at the moment. The nearest competitor is charging $169 for a drive of the same capacity.
