Icy Dock MB122 Internal Removable Drive - Conclusion

Now that everything was installed and working, I did some testing.  This testing included actually removing and installing the tray a few times, as well as using the drive while it was installed. The only problem I ran into at all was having to wiggle the arm a little bit while getting the tray properly seated in the enclosure.

So, here we are again, ready for the Pros and Cons of this unit:

    Pros:

    • Well built, excellent quality
    • Helpful LCD readout
    • SATA performance
    • Easy to install and use

    Cons:

    • Relies on hard drive connectors for repeated connections
    • Models can be confusing, especially when trying to pair with another compatible unit

Based on this, I gave the Icy Dock MB122 SKGF-1 a score of 7 out of 10. In my eyes, using the hard drive connectors as the main interface was a definite detriment. That and the confusing models are what kept the score of this device from being all that it could be.

I'd like to thank Icy Dock for sending us the MB122 for review. If you would like more information about this product, or any of Icy Dock's other products, please visit their website at http://www.icydock.com/product/mb122.htm.
