    Bluegears b-Enspirer

To today’s computer users, there is not any one piece of a system that can be considered the most important. Some may say the processor, others will say memory, and others still will say video. Even so, one very important part of a well-built system is your audio subsystem. Today we will be looking at the b-Enspirer by Bluegears to see what it has to offer.

When Bluegears first contacted us about reviewing this card, I immediately went to their website to read about it.  After a few minutes of just perusing their documented features, I only had one word to say:  wow.

Before we dive in, let's take a look at the features this PCI sound card has to offer:

    • Oxygen HD: The C-Media Oxygen HD chip is a high quality PCI 32-bit multi-channel audio processor that can be built into the home audio electronics or personal computer to provide a high fidelity sound and become a professional audio processing center in your life. In other words, this is the chip that makes the magic happen.
    • Dolby Digital Live: Enables a single digital cable connection to carry high quality Dolby Digital 5.1 audio from your PC to digital speakers and AV receivers.
    • Dolby Headphone: Creates a stunning multichannel surround experience over ordinary stereo headphones. Dolby Headphone is compatible with all types of audio on your PC and is so realistic you will believe you are listening over speakers in a well-controlled listening room.
    • Dolby Virtual Speaker: This technology simulates a highly realistic 5.1 speaker surround sound listening environment from as few as two speakers.  It also crease a wider two-channel environment during playback of stereo CDs and MP3 content.
    • Dolby Pro Logic II:  Processes stereo movie and music content into five playback channels of full-bandwidth surround sound.
    • Dolby Pro Logic IIx: The first and only technology to process any native stereo or 5.1 signal into a 6.1 or 7.1 channel output.
    • DTS Interactive: Provides a single cable connection to your DTS-enabled surround sound system.
    • DTS Neo:PC: With this technology, you can turn your stereo audio into a convincing multichannel audio experience.
    • DTS Connect: The latest thing from DTS that turns your PC into an action-packed entertainment experience that surrounds you in sound.
    • ASIO: With the multichannel ASIO output driver you get high performance, low latency audio output from ASIO compatible applications.
    • Full 3D Sound Support: With fully CPU-optimized Creative EAX and Microsoft DirectSound3D support, your games will sound better than ever.
    • 10 band equalizer: High quality EQ enables precise adjustment of sound, with user preset storage.
    • Magic Voice:  Good for disguising voice for VoIP applications and for pitch shifting in Karaoke.
    • Many more features, including room effects, C-Media FlexBass, Discrete ADCs and DACs, dedicated microphone input, 7.1 channel output, and s/PDIF connections.

That's quite a list, eh?  To be honest, it doesn't even do this card justice.  Let's open the box and see what we have.
