Top Ten Productivity Apps for the iPhone and iPod Touch - Organization Apps

These are the applications that will help you to keep your calendar up to date, make your to-do lists and just generally keep you from dropping the ball. If you have ever used a PDA, then you will find some of these features to be familiar. The best of the organization apps include:

    To Do

To Do allows you, surprisingly enough, to make yourself a virtual To Do list. In addition to just entering a generic one-liner, this application shines by allowing you to add a more detailed entry about your task. For example, your item could be "Mary's Birthday Party" and your more detailed entry could be "125 Marksmen Ave, ATown, 67431, 732x111.911" or "Remember to bring the iPod skin."

Managing your tasks once they are done is as simple as touching the check box. When you are ready to delete it, just swipe over it. The final nice feature is that you can see only your "pending" (undone) to dos on your list.

    Rainbow Notes

If you like the Notes app on your iPhone but you wish that you had a better way to organize all of your thoughts, then Rainbow Notes just may be the app for you. Rainbow Notes lets you make your notes with a variety of backgrounds. These backgrounds are more than just pretty wallpaper. The one that you choose allows you to sort them easily.

You have 15 choices of wallpaper, which gives you a whole lot of possible categories. Once you have made all of your notes, you can view them on the main screen. Sorting is also very simple. You can sort with the buttons on the bottom. Your sorting options include date of creation, color of the note and alphabetical by title.

    Life Ticker

If you have a lot of events that you need to manage, especially recurring events, then you could probably use a tool that will remind you about those impending events. If you have a tool like this one, it will be a lot harder to forget about events of importance, both personal and professional.

Imagine, just for a second, a world where you never forget the due dates of your six annual reports or the birthdays of your six new in-laws. It is not designed to be a replacement for your normal calendar, but if your normal calendar does not live on your iPhone, it can be a help on the go or for any occasion when you know that pulling out your full calendar would be a hassle.
