Top 6 Web-Based Email Applications - Yahoo and GMX

    Yahoo

You cannot talk about email service if you do not talk about Yahoo. Like Gmail, Yahoo offers unlimited email storage. You can also get this service at their other domains, including ymail.com and rocketmail.com. This email application enables you to incorporate various functions, such as RSS news feeds, instant messaging, and SMS text messaging.

Yahoo enables you to organize your mail. It provides folders into which you can just drag and drop your messages. Use operators to identify senders or dates so you can conduct a search to find a particular message.

Do you want to get rid of those pesky spam messages? Yahoo automatically routes them to a "Spam" folder. You can also report the email messages that the filter missed. This web-based application comes with approximately 15 filters that immediately file incoming mail.

Like Gmail, if you want to Yahoo to be the only email account you log into, you can set up other POP accounts, then have Yahoo collect those email messages and route them into your Yahoo in-box. You can also send email messages to those email addresses from within Yahoo.

Yahoo also comes with security tools, which will scan for viruses. It also will not download remote images or other content into your message, so that you won't be attacked by a worm or virus.

    GMX Mail

GMX Mail does not offer unlimited email storage. Instead, the application provides 5GB of online email storage. GMX Mail allows you to get email messages from other accounts, including Yahoo or Windows Live Hotmail. The application comes with folders and filters that you can use for sorting email. It also contains some search operators where you can conduct a fast search.

This application uses the POP and IMAP protocols. It scans for viruses, and has a learning spam filter that will keep your in-box from being taken over by spam.

Are you tired of deleting unwanted email messages? Maybe you just do not have the time. Well, let GMX Mail take care of that task for you. You just set up a schedule, and the application will remove the messages.

If you are on vacation, you can set up an auto-reply. That way, if a person emails you, GMX Mail will send that person a reply that you are on vacation.

You can set up a calendar to schedule events, in addition to an address book.
