The World Browsing Championship, Round 2 - "In the Red Corner..."

In the red corner, weighing in at version 7.0, the defending champion and world's most used browser, we have Internet Explorer:

Microsoft announced Monday the release of Internet Explorer 7.  Their latest browser to hit the scene promises to give users what they've been asking for.  A series of added features and a new architecture make this the single biggest browser release Microsoft has had since version 4.0.

Microsoft maintains that users will make the adjustment to IE7 very easily, although it does sport a new streamlined interface.  The redesign maximizes the area of the screen that displays the web page while giving the user a more streamlined look.

One way that Microsoft responded to their users was by adding the popular tabbed browsing feature from Firefox, the leading browser competitor.  Tabbed browsing allows you to have multiple web pages open at the same time in one browser window.  Everyone loves a cleaner workspace.

They've also improved web page printing features.  Advanced printing is now able to shrink text more accurately to ensure that all of the web page text appears in your printed document.

Staying up to date has been made easier as well.  Internet Explorer now has integrated RSS Feeds that allow you to stay up to date on the latest headlines, sports scores, weather, and more.

In keeping with their promise, Microsoft has provided for easier browsing and increased productivity by including web searching features into the browser interface.  Choose from one of several installable choices or create your own.  Either way, you save a step by not having to visit a search page.

Microsoft is also focusing more on security.  The latest version runs on a new architecture that promises to be more secure.  They've also included some nice security features for the end-user.  The Phishing Filter clearly indicates websites that seem suspicious or fake and helps to protect the user's private information.
