The Ultimate Troubleshooter v3.62 - Using the Software
(Page 2 of 4 )

Immediately after running the program for the first time I was presented with this update notification ensuring that I was using the latest available definitions. Continuing with the update is simple and brings up the Check For Update wizard.

Now that I was all updated, it was time to get on with the show. I was presented with the opening screen.

The smooth interface was a nice find. Everything is clearly marked and color coded to make things even easier. Five colors are used throughout the program.
- Red – Unneeded or dangerous processes
- White – Unknown or undocumented processes
- Yellow – User’s Choice. These can be left on based upon the user’s need
- Blue – Multiple Possibilities are listed in the database
- Green – This process is safe or required
Any unidentified (white) processes can be easily emailed to AnswersThatWork.com for identification. Simply click the Email Tasks button and enter your email account information.
How about reports? Not a problem. TUT can export reports in four formats including: Excel, HTML, text, or directly to the Windows clipboard.
The status bar contains a variety of useful pieces of information as well. These include memory and CPU monitors among others.
The tabbed interface also makes things nice. Each tab allows you to take a unique look at your system’s setup. The Tasks tab quickly shows all of the processes that are currently running on your computer, the Services tab shows you which Windows Services are available and their current state, the Hardware tab puts very useful information about your system’s hardware right at your fingertips, and the Startups tab provides information about the tasks that are launched at system startup.
From any of the views, you can look at the lower right hand corner for more detail. You can also double click any entry and bring up its properties to view all available information for it.

Simply checking or un-checking unwanted items is all it takes. Removal is just a click away. After removing unwanted tasks from your computer’s startup and ending any currently running tasks, you’re ready to continue with your system maintenance. No need to close this program and start another; it’s built in.

Clicking the Housekeeping button on the main toolbar is the next step. Check the options that you would like to have performed and press the Go button when you’re ready to begin. It’s that simple.
