Bundled Software: Reward or Burden? - Bundled Software
(Page 3 of 4 )
When you turn your new computer on for the first time, by the time you get to the desktop, the task bar is half way filled up with running programs that have been installed already. I have never been a fan of preinstalled software. My first action used to be to reformat first, and then start with the software I want to install.
I recently took a look at the software that was preloaded onto a new computer. Other than the fact the computer took forever to load up, the software on there is software that I would never use. For the general public, however, I think that this software might be beneficial.
I do have a few complaints about the software. First, there seems to be an overwhelming amount of it included. I turned the computer on and saw all kinds of software running. I wasn't sure what everything did at first.
My second beef against the preinstalled software is its limitations. The versions they include aren't much more than glorified demos. The software seems to only have select features available for use. If you want to have the full blown version, you have to pony up more money. I would rather have fewer programs, but have them be complete versions. What’s the point of having only 1 part of the software I need? I still have to buy it regardless.
I know they do it to get you hooked onto a program, but if your product is good, people will by future versions. Give us the full software, but make us pay for the upgrades or give us a discount. I think that people would be happier with having full versions and willing to spend more when they know that the software they are buying does exactly what they want it to.
My last complaint is that it seems like every piece of software has some type of program that wants to be loaded when Windows loads up. This doesn't do much more than make everyone frustrated about the load times. I think most software is becoming more bloated lately; they all need to slim down and lose some weight.
