Ultra X-Connect 500W Modular PSU - Specifications and Features

    Specifications & Features

    Ultra X-Connect 500W Modular PSU

Modular power supplies have been a relatively new thing, and Ultra brings their specialized line of modular power supplies with the X-Connect series. Thus, the biggest feature of the X-Connect PSU is the modular cable connections. There are eight spots on the X-Connect PSU to hook up cables, three of which are dedicated to the 20-pin motherboard cable, 6-pin AUX Xeon cable, and 4-pin 12V P4 cable. The other five are for 4-pin Molex cables.

The entire cable kit that comes with the X-Connect PSU has been modified to use Ultra's black "plug-in" device connection. The connectors still fit like ordinary connectors, whether they are 4-pin cables or the motherboard cable. The plus side to this is that the cables are easier to connect and disconnect, especially when devices are in positions that are difficult to reach. The cables are also UV reactive shielded. These two features make the X-Connect's power cables strong and sturdy, easy to connect, and nice to look at (especially under a black light). The cables are not perfect however, as they can be a little too strong and sturdy, and the connectors can be too big. I will explain why later.

Other features of the X-Connect PSU include a high-gloss mirror finish, dual 80mm fans, low acoustic noise, short circuit protection, in-rush current protection, and thermal overload protection. Not to mention it is a 500 watt power supply and if good quality, can power the most power hungry computers possible. Finally, it comes in silver, black, and blue, all of which have the high-gloss mirror finish. Here are the current ratings as well as what connectors in the cable kit are available.

       · I have to disagree with your statements on mounting this PSU inside a coolermaster...
       · Well then that means some people can fit it and others cannot - which is probably...
       · I also have a Cooler Master case. I did the same thing by attaching the ATX cable...
       · I wish it had a 90 degree backshell.
