Seasonic Super Tornado 400W Review - Conclusion

With all that said, the question stands as to how this does in a real world environment. As of this writing, I have been using this power supply for the last 7 days straight and this machine has not been turned off, Not only are the voltages more stable than the previous power supply that I had, but now this computer nearly silent.

    PSU - Home sweet home

As you can see above, here is the Tornado in its new home, my everyday surfing/email machine. Even after the few days this has been up and running, Motherboard Monitor and the BIOS have had very little deviation on voltages. This system runs continually, and one of the biggest differences is that now, the in-case temperature has dropped about 2 degrees.

For those interested, here are my system's specifications:

    • BioStar M7VIZ-AO6 Ver. 5
    • AMD Athlon 2Ghz
    • 1Gb PC2700 Kingston
    • 40Gb 7200 Western Digital HD
    • 12x Lite-On CDRW
    • Sapphire 9600Pro
    • 1x80mm Intake fan
    • 1x80mm Exhaust fan

    Pros

    • Packaging is nice and secure.
    • The unit is nearly silent.
    • Long power cables.
    • Cable wrap included.
    • PSU meets or exceeds ratings.

    Cons

    • Not enough cable wrap included to cover all cables.
    • Needs a better manual
    • At US$100, it's a bit pricey.

    Simply Put...

    • Would I recommend this power supply to a close friend? Yes.

    • Would I ever use a Seasonic power supply in the future? Yes.

    • Is Seasonic a Top-of-the-Line maker of power supplies? Well, maybe not the top of the line at the moment, but if they keep producing products such as this one, I see no reason why they couldn't be considered a top manufacturer in the future.

I would like to thank Seasonic for providing the sample for review, and you can find it through almost all you favorite online retailers. I have seen this power supply on Pricewatch ranging up to about $100 to the door. Sure, there are cheaper power supplies out there, but as the saying goes, "you get what you pay for."
