QTechnology 460w Gold Series PSU - Testing

    Here is today's test setup.

    • Abit AI7
    • Intel PIV 3.0c oc'ed to 3.6GHz, 1.7V
    • 2x512 Kingston HyperX PC3200 RAM @ 3.2V
    • GeForce 6800 unlocked 16pp 6vp and overclocked to 350/800
    • 2x Seagate 120GB 7200.7rpm SATA in RAID 0
    • 1x Seagate 80GB 7200rpm ATA
    • Koolance Exos-Al
    • Samsung 12x DVD-ROM
    • Verbatim 40/12/48X CD-RW
    • Turtle Beach Santa Cruz
    • 4x80mm case fans
    • 12" black light
    • 2 blue bezel LEDs

I tested the QT-03460G power supply by checking voltages along the 3.3v, 5v, and 12v rails with a digital multimeter. I first booted the computer and let it sit idle for five minutes and took readings. Then I stressed the system by running Prime 95, Rthdribl (3D demo), playing a music file, and running a Sandra hard disk performance test while taking multimeter readings at the same time.

At idle the QT-03460G holds up very well. Multimeter readings are marginally greater than spec and Motherboard Monitor reports similar voltages.

    QTechnology 460w Gold Series PSU

Looking at multimeter readings under load, voltage drops .07v on the 12v rail, .03v on the 3.3v rail, and .01v on the 5v rail. This is very good! The QT Gold Series PSU stays above spec at all times and voltage along all of its rails does not significantly drop under load. Fluctuating or sagging power rails can be harmful to hardware and certainly impedes overclocking. The QT-03460G has neither of these issues.
