OCZ GameXstream 700W PSU Review - Conclusion

From what I picked up in my testing, the OCZ GameXstream is one powerful PSU, and is extremely efficient. It can put up with excessive loads on the 12v rails and still maintain very little fluctuation on the rails. The only drawback that I can see is with next generation hardware being possibly held back; an Intel Kentsfield, combined with an X1950XTX in crossfire would certainly give this PSU a run for its money during excessive overclocking.

Most users probably would never demand more than the OCZ could provide. It certainly offers itself to a large market of users, and performs amazingly well. Any user in the market should take a look at the GameXstream.

    Pros and Cons

    Pros

    • Excellent stability and efficiency.
    • Compatibility with older and newer systems.
    • Beautifully wrapped power connectors.
    • Silent fan operation and beautiful blue LED fan provided.
    • Long power leads make powering a large chassis easy.
    • Compact size makes compatibility and breeze.
    • Decent price at $150.
    • 600W, 700W and 850W versions available.

    Cons

    • Small heat sinks inside (but larger heat sinks were not necessary).
    • ATX and CPU power connectors cannot be attached together.
    • 12V line is shared with the secondary processor core and secondary graphics card.
    • No official support for Quad core processors or Quad SLI graphics cards

The OCZ GameXstream certainly offers more than enough power for the current generation of hardware and provides great stability for your computer system.  Any user who plans to power thousands of dollars worth of computer components must surely be able to afford the newest power supply OCZ offers, the 1000W ProXstream. I'm sure that one will contain all of the quality performance and attention to detail for which OCZ is known.
