    Enermax EG465P-VE 431w PSU

The infamous Enermax PSU. Every hardcore overclocker has more than likely heard of the Enermax. If your building a full tower case, and intend on providing several fans for cooling, maybe some neon, lightstrip or cathode lighting, multiple drives, temp monitors, HD coolers, and High Power CPU fans, your most definitely going to want a workhorse of a Power Supply in your case. Believe me, there's nothing worse than sitting in front of your PC as it shuts down due to a blown PSU. And this brings us to the Enermax EG465P-VE review!

Intro: The infamous Enermax PSU.

I purchased the good ol' AOpen HX-08 full tower case a few years back and the original 300w PSU has been pretty decent. Yet I had heard tales of getting extra horsepower out of your CPU with the upgrade of a new and more powerful Power Supply. Silly? Well...not really after you think about it. After all, upping the voltage when overclocking your CPU is gonna suck down more power right? More is better and gives your system breathing room when it needs that extra ooomph to squeeze a few extra drops of precious MHz out of the system.

As I see it, there are 3 main reasons you would want to purchases a quality Enermax PSU.

    1. Reliable power for your entire system

    2. A possible higher overclock with the added horsepower

    3. The intake and exhaust fans helping your system stay much cooler

Box and Hardware: Lets take a pic at the box it comes in.

The box is good sized and the bubble wrap packing is more than adequate for this type of hardware. What really gets you excited is when you pull this monster out of the box and hold it up for the first time. This bad boy damn sure weights in quite hefty and don't leave ya feeling as if you just blew your wad on a cheap piece of hardware.

Next thing you'll notice the awesome cable wrapping around the main ATX power connector. VERY nice. Enermax is one of the few PSU manufacturers going the extra mile to install this cable wrap, which not only looks much nicer than a fat wad of cables all over the place, but comes in quite handy so as not to get items tangled in between all the wires. It also makes it much easier to route around your case and motherboard.

You gotta admit. Those gold plated grills are surely pimp. Adding that extra little flare to your home-built system. Also notice the sheer amount of connectors this PSU has. I'll go ahead and list the official specs so you can take a quick gander.

    • Meets AMD K7 and Intel ATX 2.03 standard
    • Gold-plated fan guards
    • AMD-desirable Thermal Mechanical version
    • Fan speed monitoring by motherboard (FM function)
    • Dual cooling fan design: 90mm fan intakes heat, 80mm fan exhausts hot air
    • Ball bearing fan with thermal control function
    • Heat sink composed of copper and aluminum for excellent heat dissipation
    • Equipped with 6-pin AUX, 4-pin ATX 12V, eight 4-pin Molex & and floppy drive connectors
    • Gold-coated terminals for high performance and faint electrical resistance for better electrical conductivity
    • Expandable sleeving on the motherboard connector
    • Low noise
    • High MTBF (Mean-Time-Between-Failure)
    • 2-year manufacturer warranty

If you want the FULL list of specifications, head here to the Enermax official site.

I'm not gonna make this a 9-page review, so lets head on over to page 2 and finish this up.
