    Enermax EG365P-VE(FCA) 350W PSU

Power supplies have always been a critical component of any overclocker's machine. Time lost spent over figuring out why your system just can't reach that 3.4GHz mark may very well be solved by a more powerful PSU. Today, most brand name 350W+ power supplies are in the $60-100 range and are all actually very similar in terms of performance (maybe a few exceptions). So then what exactly are power supply makers doing to have their products more appealing over their competition?

    Introduction

Power supplies have always been a critical component of any overclocker's machine. Time lost spent over figuring out why your system just can't reach that 3.4GHz mark may very well be solved by a more powerful PSU. Today, most brand name 350W+ power supplies are in the $60-100 range and are all actually very similar in terms of performance (maybe a few exceptions). So then what exactly are power supply makers doing to have their products more appealing over their competition?

Enermax has taken the quiet approach with their whisper models. Today, OCA will look at their latest 350W PSU, the EG365P-VE FCA. Let's see if Enermax can indeed deliver a strong PSU which is also easy on the ears!

    Packaging and Specs

I was surprised by Enermax's excellent packaging when I first received the PSU. It has been a while since I have received any component shrink wrapped air-tight in plastic. Do I smell quality?

That "no more noise" caption on the front of the box got me excited the moment I spotted it; I'm a fan of quiet computers. =) Here is a shot of the side of the box which denotes which model PSU is contained within:

In the box we find the PSU, "User's Manual," 4 screws, a 3pin fan adapter, power cord, and 2 Enermax case stickers.

Again, I'd like to note the excellent precaution Enermax took when packaging these things up. The PSU is bubble wrapped, then placed inside a plastic bag. If you look at the bottom caption on the manual, you'll notice that Enermax is really stressing the whole low noise but powerful concept.

A quick table of specs, which also show the differences between the 365 and 465 models:
