Antec Smart Power 500W - Conclusion

    Conclusion

I definitely have to say that this power supply is an excellent value, it certainly will outperform all power supplies in its price range, and with its flexibility and compatibility it certainly would make an excellent back up power source in even the most power hungry computer system. And users who are worried about how audible their system will be should certainly look at other components in the system before suspecting this power supply to be the cause of all the noise.

    Pros

    • Excellent performance under extreme workload
    • Modular design can reduce case clutter, and maximize airflow
    • Long cables are great for larger chassis, highly flexible sheathing, for tucking away wires
    • Black and Red sheathing to protect and wrap wires
    • Gold plated connectors for the best current possible
    • Very Quiet Operation
    • Extra Molex and SATA cables for true DIY-ers out there who want custom cable lengths.
    • Big heavy heatsinks for maximum heat dissipation.

    Cons

    • No user adjustable fan speeds for running cool
    • No user adjustable pots, for adjusting voltages at load (Not an issue since it’s really a budget PSU. This would be nice though)
    • Would be nice to have one more power connector on the back of the PSU to provide a few more Molex or SATA cables.
    • Same old grey box

It’s safe to say that the Antec Smart Power 500W Power Supply is not your traditional grey box power supply. It certainly has all of the latest features incorporated into it: dual 12v circuitry, dual PCI E connectors, with the modular design you can cut down clutter, and still have silent operation certainly makes the SmartPower one of the best deals on a power supply.
