Whether you are a casual user or an enthusiastic satellite freak having the ability to run tons of satellite channels on your very own computer, to record on the fly and benefit from other advanced features is truly exciting. TechniSat's new SkyStar2 can do them all! What's more, it's a bargain. You can pick one up for around 50€, approximately US$80.

In this article I'm going to review the TechniSat "SkyStar 2" DVB-S Satellite Receiver PCI Card. TechniSat has a reputation of being the manufacturer of the best selling satellite receivers all over Europe. As you might have already noticed there is clearly an emphasis on the "Das Original" that is located as a subtitle below their brand name. It's in German and it means "The Original." This product is indeed "made in Germany."
Throughout this article I'm going to describe this PCI satellite receiver card, examine it, use it and give feedback about its level of performance. I've seen quite a few satellite receivers and fiddled with specific cards and tuners until now. That gives me a comparative understanding of the satellite reception area. Also, needless to say I have the required components and platform to test this card.
Prior to purchasing I'd researched a bit, and done my homework. As soon as I heard about TechniSat I made my decision. I've skimmed through the list of specifications which boosted my expectations. Props to German quality!
Enough rambling already, let's see the box… and its contents!
