SteelPad QcK Heavy
A little while back, I had the pleasure of reviewing the SteelSeries SteelPad 5L and it completely blew me away. I never knew that a precision pad could make so much difference in my gaming performance. This week, I got my hands on the SteelPad QcK heavy, SteelSeries’ newest performance pad. Let’s see how it measures up against its brother.

It’s no secret that for the longest time I stopped using mouse pads altogether. I mean, why bother? Optical mice track just as well on one surface as another, right? Nope. As it turns out, there is a huge difference in the mouse surface, depending on the user. Someone like me who sits in front of a computer 8-10 hours a day will notice a difference in comfort when using a better-quality mousing surface. And hardcore gamers? I’m not that hardcore (well, I am the office UT bully), but I can tell you my game got a definite rise when I began using a quality mouse pad.
With this new mouse pad, SteelSeries has approached the mouse pad from a different direction. While all of their other mouse pads are very thin, allowing the mouse to be as close to the table as possible, this pad is very thick. This helps address problems such as uneven playing surfaces or other problems commonly plaguing LAN party participants.
Here’s a little of what SteelSeries has to say about their new pad:
“SteelPad QcK heavy is a monster among desktop cloth pads. Nothing less. It is a super-sized mouse pad made of a high quality cloth material with a specially designed non-slip rubber base which prevents the pad from sliding no matter what surface the mouse pad is placed on.
The extreme size makes SteelPad QcK heavy perfect for low sensitivity mouse settings and the smooth cloth surface offers maximum precision. The cloth surface, combined with the heavy thickness, is also very easy on the users wrists, even for hardcore gamers, graphic designers and others who use their mouse for extended periods of time.”

Okay, I must admit my interest is piqued. Let's take a look at this mouse pad, first-hand.
