Scanning the Canon CanoScan LiDE 20 - Conclusion

    Canon LiDE 20

Does this scanner look slick? Yes. Is this scanner very small and compact with a small footprint? Yes. Is the included CanoScan software easy to use and pretty well thought out? Yes. Most importantly, does this scanner's quality live up to the reputation of Canon? No. This scanner is good for those who just want a scanner for the sake of a scanner, and don’t have the extra US $30 to spend on the Canon LiDE 30, which has a higher dpi count. If you have the extra money, it’s a worthwhile upgrade.

    Pros

    1. Excellent design, sleek yet functional
    2. Z-hinge works like a charm with thick media
    3. “Doughnut” stand allows you to stand it on its side reducing footprint
    4. Great software that is both intuitive and functionally sound
    5. USB power supply allows for less cord clutter

    Cons

    1. Button location can cause accidental scanning/application launch
    2. Couldn’t get “multi-scan” to separate images
    3. USB power supply could be cause for somewhat slow scan times
    4. Poor scanned image quality
