    Plusdeck Review

Do you have a bunch of cassette tapes lying around that you think you may never listen to again? Take heart. Today we're reviewing a product that will let you listen to your old cassette tapes through your computer. Even better, it will let you turn them into MP3 files.

Once upon a time, in what now seems to be another lifetime, I earned a living as a DJ.  And as a result, I have many, many cassette tapes with recordings of live performances and mixes I made, that I would just LOVE to have in electronic format.  Enter the Plusdeck 2c.  The  Plusdeck 2c is a "PC Cassette Deck," allowing you to play and/or record from standard audio cassette tapes.

When the world moved to CDs, many people were left with a virtual plethora of cassette tapes, which had suddenly become akin to fossils of dinosaurs long extinct.  Many people still hold on to their large libraries of cassette tapes with the hopes of somehow still getting some use out of them.  Well, with a computer and the Plusdeck 2c, you can once again access the music and recordings on your cassettes.

Here’s the listed features/specs about the Plusdeck:

    • Hi quality playback as Hi-Fi audio
    • Convert cassette tapes into MP3 files
    • Full-logic controls
    • Tape Speed 4.75cm/sec
    • Wow & Flutter 0.09%(WRMS)
    • Frequency Response 30~18,000Hz
    • Separation 40dB
    • Signal-to-Noise Ratio 55dB
    • Fits in open 5.25 drive bay
    • Included recording software requires Win95/98/ME/XP
    • Manufacturer Warranty: 1 year
