Icemat Siberia Headset - The Extension

I've reviewed a number of headset extensions, but this is the first one that I've seen that was actually made up of two separate wires.

As you can see in the picture above, the extension is composed of the extension for the headphones, ending in a volume control box, and of a separate microphone.  Most other extension cables for similar products actually mold these two wires into a single entity.

A close look at the clips that connect the two wires shows you that the microphone wire (indicated by the two arrows) is removable, and can be completely separated from the headphone extension cable.  This is useful if you decide to use the monitor bracket to secure your microphone to your monitor instead of clipping it to your clothing.

Above is the end of the microphone wire.  You will see that the microphone has an on/off button.  This keeps you from needing to mute the microphone channel whenever you do not wish to be recording.  In addition, the microphone has an integrated clip that you can use to clip it to your clothing, hat, or even the aforementioned monitor bracket.

At the end of the headset extension wire is this volume controller.  It allows you to restrict the volume coming from the audio source.  A lot of times this is much easier than locating the volume controls and lowering the volume from the source.  This volume controller has a 1/8th inch stereo jack for plugging in the headphones part of this headset.

And here you see the headphones actually plugged into the headset extension.  With an extra 1.8 meters to work with, you can plug the extension into your machine even if it's on the floor below your desk, and run the extension up to the work surface.  It's definitely a handy feature.
