H20 Audio Series Waterproof Headphones - More Details
(Page 2 of 4 )
A quick jump to Otterbox’s website (they sent us the H2O headphones to test with their iPod Video Otterbox) gives me a little information on these headphones:
- H2O Audio patented design combines true high-fidelity waterproof speakers in fully waterproof headphones.
- Durable neckband holds headphones in place through rigorous water and snow impacts.
- Form fitting silicone earpieces readily adjust to provide watertight fit for individual ear canals.
- Adjustable design allows for comfort.
- Innovative coiled cable eliminates tangles.
- Headphones designed for complete submersion (up to 3ft/1m when combined with the OtterBox for iPod cases).
The box doesn’t show much more information:

To be honest, I would have liked a little more information about the headphones. What is their frequency response? Impedance? Anything that would let me know how these headphones operate, besides being waterproof, would be great. A quick visit to H2O’s website also shows no technical information about the product.

Opening the box, I found a cardboard structure protecting the headphones themselves, along with a small packet containing the instruction manual and warranty card. Inside the cardboard, yearning for free air, I found the headphones themselves along with four silicone earpieces.

The very first thing I did when I got the headphones free was to stick them on my head. To be honest, looking at them lying on the table, they didn’t exactly look comfy. To my surprise, they fit rather nicely after I took a moment to adjust them to fit.

The silicone earpieces are designed to fit on top of the headphones, and channel the music directly into your ear while you are completely submersed in water. Yes, this keeps the water out so the sound can travel to your eardrum through the air. They fit snugly over the speakers and won't fall off.

The above pictures show one of the silicone earpieces snugly attached to one of the speakers. If you have trouble with these fitting, you can take a pair of scissors and cut off one of more of the ridges (as illustrated by the blue arrow in the second picture) for a more custom fit.
