Epson P5000: 80 GB Multimedia Device - Features
(Page 3 of 4 )
Features
The main function of the P5000 is as a photo storage/viewer, but it also can perform some other useful functions. This device can be used as a video player as well as a music player. In addition, it has some other nice features that make the device useful.
Music Player
Although the P5000's main function is not playing music, it can be used to play a limited number of music formats. The accepted formats on this device are MP3 and AAC formats, which are both pretty common. Music can be loaded into the device via memory card, but there is a limit of using no more than a 1 GB capacity memory card.
There is a built-in speaker on the bottom of this device which can be used to listen to your music, although the speaker doesn't sound that great. Thankfully, there is a 3.5 mm headphone jack on top of the device, which makes listening to music through it a much more pleasurable experience.
Video Player
This device can also act as a video player. It will play most MPEGs, DivX, AVC, WMV, Motion JPEGs, and H.264 formats. This is an excellent amount of format compatibility. Viewing the video on the device is a good experience thanks to the great quality 4 inch LCD display.
As I mentioned earlier, you can also view videos on your TV or computer monitor via A/V cable. This feature is great to use if you are traveling. You can store movies on your P5000 and view them on your TV no matter where you are in the world. With an 80 GB hard drive, you have a lot of space in which to store a large amount of photos, music, and video files.
Direct Printing
The P5000 allows you to connect directly to any PictBridge compatible printer in order to print photos. Obviously, this feature would be especially useful to print photos while on location at a photo shoot. This device will give you the ability to zoom in on RAW images to check for detail and clarity. Once the photographer has determined that the color, clarity, and focus of an image is acceptable, they can then print out the photo on a compatible printer.
