Epson Artisan 800 Multifunction Printer - Performance

I was really excited to test out the Epson Artisan 800. It's a good-looking printer with solid features on paper, but you never know how well the printer will actually perform until you give it a try. I tested just about all of the printer's functions, and I must say that I was pleasantly surprised with its performance.

Epson claims that this printer is capable of printing or copying in black/white at speeds of up to 38 pages per minute (ppm). That's very fast for an inkjet printer, but in my tests the Artisan 800 was able to accomplish this feat with no problem at all. Even full-page color prints came out fast; next to the traditional inkjet printer that most of you have at home right now, there's no competition when it comes to speed. This printer will definitely satisfy anyone's need for speed (at least when it comes to printing!).

Even more impressive than the speedy performance of the Artisan 800 was the stellar print quality, especially with color prints. The Artisan 800 is a Hi-Definition printer, meaning it uses HD-ink to print. It shows in the incredible detail and awesome color that this printer produces. For anyone who wants to print their own photos, this is the printer for you – bottom line. The photos that I printed using the glossy photo paper turned out better than photos that I normally get from my local photo store. I saw no smudging, wetness, streaking, or anything like that – not even on 8x10 photos that I printed which were full of colors.

According to Epson, one of the main reasons for the exceptional image quality is the MicroPieza printing technology built into the Artisan 800 printer. This technology enables the inkjets to distribute tiny ink droplets as small as 1.5 picoliters, which basically allows the printer to print in finer detail and clarity. It's the same technology used in photo labs around the world.

Overall, I'd say the newEpson Artisan 800is head and shoulders above the competition in terms of performance, features, functionality, and print quality – not to mention the very fair $299 price tag. There are very few gripes that I have with this printer (none of which are worth mentioning), and it pretty much impressed me in every aspect. I wouldn't recommend this printer to everyone out there, because some people just have no use for all of the Artisan 800's many features. For people who are looking for a relatively compact, good-looking inkjet printer that produces immaculate photos and has a built-in scanner, fax machine, and copier, then I would strongly recommend considering the Epson Artisan 800.
