    Sennheiser PX100 Headphones Review

SpeakersSennheiser, Sennheiser... Now, where have I heard that name before? Oh yes, that's right! Gnorb wrote a review on a pair of headphones by Sennheiser not too long ago, and then had a contest to give them away. Well, there's good news and there's bad news. I like hearing the bad news first so, here it is: sorry, but no giveaway contest on these. The good news, however, is that at half the price of the HD 500 Fusions previously reviewed, the Sennheiser PX 100 headphones are probably closer to your price range. But does this huge price cut also mean a huge quality cut? Read on to find out!

One of the first products we’re checking out this year here at Dev Hardware are some of Sennheiser's more portable headphones, the PX100 headphones. These are aimed specifically at those people who require optimum sound quality but in a small, lightweight, and fairly rugged form factor. Specs from the manufacturer's website are as follows:

    1. Dynamic stereo mini headphones

    2. Fold and flip: registered design allows the ear cups to be turned through 90° and fold the headphones closed (headphones will lock in open and closed positions)

    3. Fits into the shirt pocket: rugged transport case with cord take-up (145 x 75 x 27 mm)

    4. Excellent sound quality for mobile audio sources

    5. High-resolution sound due to Sennheiser "Duofol" diaphragms with spiral embossing

    6. Crisp and fast bass response due to system "twin damping" with 80ppi polyurethane and special perforated elements

    7. Easily replaceable ear pads and headband padding (ear cups and headband can be replaced by your dealer)

    8. Lightweight: only 65 g without cable

    Nominal impedance32 Ohm
    Jack plug3.5 mm stereo
    Transducer principle (Headphones)dynamic, open
    Ear couplingsupraaural
    Cable length1.4 m
    Weight without cable65 g
    Frequency response (headphones)15.....27000 Hz
    Sound pressure level (SPL)114 dB(SPL)
    THD, total harmonic distortion0.1%
