Dev Hardware Recommended Are the Logitech Z-2200 speakers worth the price? Check out his movie, music and game test to see why this reviewer says, "Technically speaking, the Z-2200 speakers are one step above the competition."
Introduction It is not that often I get the opportunity to step away from graphics accelerators and pure quantitative type reviews that generally deal with FPS or a score of some kind. So when I receive something like computer speakers, which require a more qualitative analysis to be reviewed, the process is always refreshing. But should it really be this way? It depends on where your priorities are, but for most users sound is given lesser importance than graphics or CPU/memory/hard disk speed. It's much harder to discern the difference from upgrading speakers than a new video card because there is simply no standard benchmark for sound. But, sometimes unconsciously, a solid set of speakers and a decent sound card will truly allow you to enjoy your games, movies, and music one step further.

Today, there is a wide variety of computer speakers available for users. Most OEM computers come standard with cheapo speakers while the top-notch Klipsch level stuff is very expensive. Speakers come in different shapes, sizes, and amounts. They can be thin, thick, tall, orbital, 2.1, 4.1, etc. Logitech, most famous for their speakers and mice, has many sound solutions ranging from budget low watt systems to expensive 400-500 watt 5+ speaker powerhouses.
"Logitech's Z-2200 speakers deliver uncompromising THX-certified audio performance. Discriminating music lovers will appreciate its powerful, distortion-free bass, clear highs, and rich mid-range."
The Z-2200 is Logitech's two satellite one subwoofer, 200 watt, THX certified monster. With MSRP USD 149.99, the Z-2200 is Logitech's most expensive 2.1 configuration. Today, Dev Hardware will review it.
