If you are one of the many people that scoffs at the idea of exercise equaling fun, you are definitely not alone in that thought. Exercise can seem like a chore, depending on how you do it. Luckily, Nintendo's Wii Fit Plus is a product that combines the fun of gaming with the benefits of exercise. Thanks to Target, Wii Fit Plus is now more affordable than ever, as the large chain is offering it for $77, which is $22.99 cheaper than its usual cost of $99.99. Target is offering Wii Fit Plus bundled with its Balance Board.
Wii Fit Plus debuted in October 2009 as a follow-up and improvement to the original Wii Fit. While the original was considered a success, Nintendo released the newer Plus version to ride its wave of popularity. Wii Fit Plus comes with all of the features contained in the original, along with some newer tools and exercises.
Perhaps the highlight of the newest additions to the Wii Fit family is the My Wii Fit Plus feature. As the name would suggest, it allows you to create a custom workout to fit your personal needs. There are four different categories that each contain specific routines to work different parts of the body, such as legs and hips, or other routines that can be used for warming up, relaxation, and more.
My Wii Fit Plus also allows you to mix and match various exercises using the My Routine feature. This is for more advanced users who know what they are looking for. If you tend to repeat certain activities more than others and want quick access, you can visit the Favorites section, which lists the ten most frequently used, recently used, and rarely used activities.
The My Wii Fit Plus section allows for further personalization by letting you choose between a male and female trainer that will guide you on-screen. As most know, calorie consumption is key to losing weight. To help with this task, My Wii Fit Plus offers a tracker to detail your calories burned, and it will also show you calorie equivalents in terms of food.
Training Plus is another new feature. It brings 15 new activities to the table that take fitness and convert it into video game form. Rhythm Kung-fu is just one of the offerings here, as well as games that make you become active by simulating skateboarding, running, cycling, and more.
Besides the new features, Wii Fit Plus offers much more. There are yoga routines to help improve posture and flexibility, as well as balance games that help enhance your coordination. Also included in the Wii Fit Plus training regimen are aerobic exercises to burn calories and strength training routines to add muscle and strength.
All of the aforementioned features seem like a good way to get fit and have fun at the same time. Although it is unknown how long Target will offer the Wii Fit Plus at the discounted price of $77, you do have the option to make the purchase either through Target's website or in person at one of their several locations nationwide.
