Sony PS3 Slim - Graphics and Gaming
With the PS3 Slim you can also play games online for free, unlike Xbox Live, which charges a fee of $50 per year for a subscription. You also have the ability to download new games, movies, and TV shows at an extra cost. One area where the Xbox 360 has the PS3 Slim beat in terms of online fare, however, is its exclusive deal with the rental giant Netflix for streaming content.
The PS3 Slim can also be used to view most standard video formats as well as photos by either inserting a disc with the content or via USB. You get a 120 GB hard drive, and one DualShock 3 controller comes with the console. If you choose to, you can replace the existing hard drive on the PS3 Slim quite easily, and it does not void the warranty, either.

In terms of the PS3 Slim’s engine, the manufacturer has made it a more refined piece of machinery, thanks to its smaller and more efficient 45 nm Cell Broadband Engine processor. The previously-released fatter PS3s used 60 nm processors that were not only bigger but also used more energy to operate.
By using less power the PS3 Slim does not heat up as much as the regular PS3, thus allowing the manufacturer to also use a smaller fan that in turn makes less noise. Of course these streamlined changes had to be made to allow Sony to release a physically smaller console.
