    Review of Madden NFL 11

Summer has passed and it is now the best time of the year for many sports fans. This is especially true for fans of professional football. Now that the NFL season has kicked into full gear, many football fans can plop on their couches and enjoy full Sundays and Monday nights of hard hitting action. What about those other days? Well, with the release of Madden NFL 11 for the PS3, you can fill all your days with football fun.

The Madden football franchise is one that has been around for many years. Fans of the series have probably played it across various consoles over time. Some complain that the series does not improve enough year after year, while others simply do not care. They just purchase it annually to get new roster updates so they can simulate their favorite teams.

While past criticisms of the series may have been warranted, this year's edition is sure to please even the most cynical critics out there. With improved gameplay, graphics, and modes, Madden NFL 11 is the most solid release from the EA franchise yet.

As usual, Electronic Arts hit a home run in the presentation department. The entire look and sound of the game is lively and makes you feel all the excitement that an actual NFL game can bring. The stadiums are authentic and filled with detail, such as gigantic video screens and more.

The sound is excellent, and you will hear different music playlists for each stadium. In some places, you will even hear that team's specific chants and fight songs, such as when you're playing in Washington or Miami. Opposing crowds will do their best to make plenty of noise when the game gets tight, which adds to the overall engrossing atmosphere. You will even get some cut scenes to show the fans getting rowdy.

The commentary during each game is quite good too. Actual network announcers call the game, with Cris Collinsworth providing the analysis and Gus Johnson coming through with the play-by-play. Gus Johnson is one of the more entertaining sports commentators around, so hearing his voice and quirky comments is a pleasant surprise.

The players themselves also look great. Player models have been tweaked so that they look a bit bulkier and resemble true professional athletes. You'll get to see some of your favorites rocking their dreadlocks, and you will notice some players' familiar faces as well.

All of the uniforms are authentic, and you will be able to notice plenty of player details if you look close enough. Some added presentation goodies include pregame scenes of the players getting ready in the locker room, and you will also get to see their actions on the sidelines from time to time during the game.
