As far as gameplay goes, EA did do a good job of tweaking it to make the game more realistic. In NCAA 09, the gameplay was very wide open, and too skewed towards the offensive side. That is fine for an arcade game, but fans of college football also enjoy some quality defense as well. A low scoring game is nice to have every once in a while.
On offense, the line blocking is more realistic. Offensive lineman don’t stick onto defensive players like crazy glue, making it more difficult and realistic to run the ball. Wide receivers no longer have as much room to roam, as they now have to fight defensive backs for position and to break free.
Passing the ball is improved, although it may be too easy at times to complete a pass, even if you are using a quarterback that does not have a high rating. Tackling on defense is pretty realistic with several different types of animations to keep you entertained that use player momentum to reflect a real tackle. There are some excessive tackles every now and then, though, that would make you think you were watching Any Given Sunday.
One irritating part about defensive gameplay that remains is lack of player intuition. If you select a certain type of defensive scheme, the player will remain loyal to it, even if he is close enough to make a better play. This can be frustrating at times, especially when some defensive linemen rush the passer.
