Endless Ocean: Blue World for Wii - Gameplay

A couple of tweaks have been added in to the sequel to make the gameplay more interesting and challenging. The first tweak deals with your air supply. You now have a limited air supply when you dive. If you run out of air, you will be shot up to the surface, thus interrupting your dive. As you progress through the game, you can strengthen your air supply and stamina for future dives. Also, the deeper you dive, the more air supply you gain for the future.

To complete your game's tasks, you are outfitted with tools such as a sea whistle to attract certain species, food to feed them, a camera, and an underwater pen to mark special areas. There is even a multi-sensor tool to help you find treasure. If in danger of attack from a predator, like a shark or crocodile, you can use the pulsar tool to sent out electromagnetic waves to subdue your attacker. This attack feature was not found in the original Endless Ocean, and it adds some more action to the overall gameplay. On the flip side, the pulsar can also be used to help heal certain species.

A multiplayer mode is also present. You can connect online to play with another friend and dive together. This feature is a bit limited, but is still a nice option to have. It is made better by the implementation of WiiSpeak, which is an extra option that lets you talk to your partner while playing.

As mentioned, the graphics in Blue World are superb. Landscapes and wildlife are equally breathtaking and enjoyable to watch. Movements are also realistic. Sound is realistic as well, and the sound effects that emanate from the animals, such as whales, can be chilling at times. The Celtic soundtrack, on the other hand, can get old after a while.

While Endless Ocean: Blue World is certainly not for the average gamer, some may find it a nice change of pace. If you want something more relaxing to pick up from time to time, Blue World is ideal. Whether you just want to dive and explore at your own speed, or play through the various missions, it is your choice. If you are looking for a lot of action, however, look elsewhere.
