Age of Conan Review - Not Exactly Perfect, High System Demands
(Page 2 of 4 )

And as game time wore on, there were a couple things I didn't think were so ideal about Age of Conan, mainly the very high system requirements. All I do anymore is buy new parts for my computers, until they are topped out, and then I buy new computers, starting the whole cycle over again. I have about 3GB RAM and a 3.0GHz dual something processor, all built by Dell, and it did mostly play pretty well. Mostly.
Historically, I never get good video frame rates. I do not know why; I have the best graphics card I can cram in this box, which is only about six months old. But it played nicely; I shudder to think of playing it with less, but I'm not a minimal requirements kind of guy. It's probably important to point out that a fully installed and updated Age of Conan is running at around 28GB of install space.
Another thing I though might have been different was the breaking down of the world into zones, versus just one whole world. To their credit, the zones are quite advanced, which probably accounts for the continued load time when switching. However the zones themselves are quite large and all indications show continued updates for each, making travel to these zones worth the effort. Each area is marked by its own look and feel, using different characters and surroundings to be indicative of the flavor of that particular area. Overall, the lack of one continuous world does not seem to be a problem, and travel is not only easy, it's also free!
