    Zalman CNPS7000A-AlCu Review - Installation

Installing the CNPS7000A is really straightforward. Zalman's front page features a flash installation movie which shows the process on all three sockets. Putting the cooler on socket 754 or 462, both AMD platforms, requires the removal of the motherboard. But again, installing the heatsink isn't rocket science and the included user's manual details the process very carefully and what restrictions you need to be aware of. I will be installing the CNPS7000A-AlCu on a P4/socket 478 platform.

First hook the two metal brackets for socket 478 installation into the motherboards retention bracket.

Then place the cooler on top and use two given screws, one on each side, to secure the 7000A. The brackets are very strong and there is no need to worry about over-tightening the screws. Doing this by hand, you'll recognize immediately when the screws can't be screwed any further.
