Scythe Ninja Plus Rev B - More of What You Get

Time to take a look at the cooler itself. This is a really big cooler. It may be incompatible with some motherboards or even cases because of its size. There are a total of 12 heat pipes coming out of the copper base that sits on top of the CPU. Three pipes from each side going up into the fins should really help spread the heat throughout the whole cooler and not just a side or two. Though the heat pipes are made of copper, the fins of the cooler are made out of aluminum.

It’s a fairly typical design with the fins. I’m not a huge fan of the design, but it does the best job, so I’ll take it. My problem really has to do with the handling and the fact that it might not fit into a particular case. The fins are close together and aren’t very sturdy. I have smashed a few into each other. While this is not a big deal, if I had a bad drop it could really mess up the cooler. I easily managed to bend them back with little effort. Bent fins will cause bottlenecks on the airflow and create an increase in temperature

The slots here are for the fan brackets, which are used to mount the fan.

The bottom appears to be well finished and should make excellent contact with the CPU after some Arctic Silver thermal paste.
