Evercool PCAC - Package and Documentation

The back of the package gives us a quick overview of the unit, and this is the last we see of any sort of documentation. The PCAC is a pretty simple device, and the majority of users will find it easy to install with or without verbose instructions. On the other hand, Evercool could have taken this opportunity to provide a little more detail about the technology involved. An insert highlighting some of their other products may also be interesting if we happen to enjoy the PCAC.

Inside the package we find a set of four screws for mounting the unit, and a 3-pin to 3-pin power connector. The addition of a 3-pin to 4-pin adapter would have been handy for those of us without a free power header on our motherboard.

On closer inspection you can tell that the housing is entirely plastic, right down to the silver fan speed adjustment knob. A tachometer indicates the range of speeds we can set on the PCAC.

Here is a close-up of the knob so you can see what it really looks like. The knob does indeed provide smooth adjustments between low and high speed, however there is no "off" mode. The best you can do is to turn it to low, at which point it is fairly inaudible. I wish Evercool had selected a higher quality knob for this unit though. A nice aluminum or steel knob with a tactile feel to it could have given it a much higher quality image.
