Evercool HDAC, Hard Drive Cooler - Putting It In the Case
(Page 5 of 8 )
Now that the HDAC unit had been married with the hard drive, it was time to put it into the case. The system in this test was a Dell Dimension 4600. I removed the side and front panel from the case, to facilitate the installation.

Above you see the back of the HDAC from inside the computer. The HDAC needs its own power adapter (the top red oval) to power the fan and the led readout. The power adapter is on the far left hand side of the case, and while its placement does not interfere with the power connectors on the hard drive, it does make it somewhat difficult to reach inside and connect it. The IDE data connector and power connector for the drive are indicated by the two lower red circles.
Now, a problem I had with this installation was that none of the screw holes in the side of the HDAC matches up with any of the holes in the drive cage of the Dell Dimension I was using. To be honest, this probably won’t be an issue to most users of this product since they will be installing it into a generic case, but I thought it worth mentioning nonetheless.

Here’s a picture of the unit installed in the Dell. It’s got an attractive enough look to it. Let’s turn it on!
