Evercool HDAC, Hard Drive Cooler - Installing We Will Go

As I mentioned before, I was unable to find any installation instructions inside the box.  I did find instructions on the bottom of the box.  The glossy box made them hard to read, but they are as follows:

Step 1.  Lock the screws into the main unit.

Step 2.  Put the main unit into the case and lock the screws.

To be honest, installing the HDAC is pretty straight forward, but those instructions aren’t clear in the slightest.  After some quick searching, I found the following page on Evercool’s website with much better installation instructions:

    http://www.evercool.com.tw/install/instal_hdac.htm

After a quick read of these instructions, I went about installing the HDAC:

Here you see me attaching the rails to the hard drive.  These rails are used to secure the hard drive into the HDAC enclosure.  For my tests of this product, I used a Western Digital 120 GB 7200 IDE drive.

Here is the drive installed into the HDAC.  It ready to go into the computer.  The tiny black wire you see at the top right is the lead for the thermostat.  Nowhere in the instructions on the box or the website were there mention of this part of HDAC, nor what would be the best place to attach it to the drive. Below is my own experience installing it.

The picture on the left shows the end of the lead, before I attached it to the spindle on the bottom of the hard drive.  Since this is basically the core around which the drive spins, I figured it would be a good place to attach the thermostat.  There is a piece of insulated tape included in the hardware for attaching the lead to the drive.
