Bluegears B-Flexi Fan Review - A closer look

Looking at the contents of each box you may have said to yourself, “what’s with all of those cables attached to the fan?”  I did too, as first, so I had to lay them out for a good look.

That’s the b-flexi 120mm all stretched out.  Suddenly everything made sense.  There are two sets of wires leading away from the fan.  These are the power leads and the light leads.

The power leads is the smaller set of wires, colored yellow, black, and red.  These wires plug into a fan plug, or into a standard power adapter.

The other leads are the light leads.  Now, you can operate the fan just fine with only the power leads connected.  This means the fan is working and can work to cool your case.  But if you want to get fancy, the light leads need to be hooked up.  There is approximately two feet of cable leading from the fan to the small transformer for the lights.  Attached to that is a power plug, and then an additional line leading off towards the switch.  In order for the lights to work, you need to plug in this power plug, and then move the switch to the desired color.

The switch itself took me a second to figure out.  I was looking at THIS and wondering “how do I attach this?”

It turns out that the switch is pretty simple to attach.  You merely position the switch in between the two poles on the slot cover.  If you are installing more that one fan, it would be helpful to check to ensure that the switches are both installed the same way.

In the above picture, you can see that the two switch-mounting screws are installed from the back.  The heads of these screws are oversized, and hold the switch in place.  Here’s an additional picture to illustrate this more clearly.
