Asetek Waterchill CPU Power Kit Review - Components

Antarctica Block with LGA775 Lid on the left, and A-64, Socket 462, and socket 478 on the right.

In the box you'll find the Asetek Antarctica CPU water block. Asetek states that the water block can reduce CPU load temperatures by 40 to 70 percent. It features two water outlets for more aggressive water flow, and is thus capable of removing at least 200W of CPU heat. The water block supports Intel 478, AMD socket A, and Athlon 64 939/940/754; you can also get an optional LGA775 lid. Needless to say, we have some extreme overclocking potential here.

Black Ice radiator and 3 80CFM 120mm fans ensure efficient heat dissipation. Its features include:

    • Dimensions: (WxHxT) 397x133x25mm

    • Supports 6x120mm fans

    • Performance: 6875 BTU/h

    • Double row, full copper-fined core, low pressure drop design

    • Ultimate Overclocking Potential

    • 3x Adda 120mm fan
      • Dimensions: 120x120x25mm
      • Airflow: 80.5CFM
      • PRM: 2050
      • Durability: 31000 hours.

Sacem SL35 pump, Control unit, and Hermaphrodite cord

Sacem SL35 Pump offers a flow rate of 900L/hr. Its improved impeller design means that there is less heat dissipation from the pump. You'll notice a small, very compact reservoir built onto the pump.

The Waterchill's Control Unit includes Safe Start and noise control. The Safe Start feature ensures that the pump/fan will start up simultaneously with the computer. Noise control allows users to adjust noise level by adjusting the fan voltage between 7v and 12v.

You also get a PCI shield, so you can cleanly install connections to the Hermaphrodite power connector.

For water tubes, Asetek includes with the Waterchill about two and a meters of 1/2 inch, easily bendable, non-kinking lines. You also get Water Wetter, an anti-algae fluid. Asetek supplies a 10ml dosage 1:33 (mix one bottle with 1L of water).

To help with heat transfer, this Asetek kit includes Waterchill Heat Conduction Compound, a generic white thermal paste for optimal heat transfer from processors to the water block.

Of course, Asetek also includes all of the necessary mounting hardware.

Free cap and lanyard to pimp at your next LAN party while showing off your rig

Finally, for those who like to free goodies with company names on them the kit includes a free Waterchill cap and lanyard with the system; only limited quantities are available.
