Arctic Cooling Silencer 64 Ultra - Taking a Look at the AC S64U
(Page 2 of 4 )
Taking a look at the AC S64U, you can see what I mean about both size and simplicity. On top is the 92mm fan. It doesn't have much of a frame, so be careful routing cables in the area, but unlike a Delta it isn't going to take your fingers off. Of course, you could still pull a stray wire loose, or at least make a lot of racket.

This is all attached on top of a wide aluminum sink. Being one piece there are no issues of a thermal interface between dissimilar metals. The fins of aluminum aren't machined extremely thin nor spaced incredibly close together. Copper sinks you will usually see use more of a “microfin” approach. Machining costs were also kept to a minimum when it comes to the base. Swirling tool marks are both visible and fairly easy to feel. The lack of Swiftech-level smoothness can be forgiven so long as the base is flat, as interface material can make up for the former, but not the latter. Unfortunately we don't have the equipment in the DevHardware Labs to measure flatness of a base.
